I don't have any issues driving in the snow with rear-wheel drive. Ever since I've been old enough to drive, I've piloted cars with both FWD cars and RWD cars, and never once have I been in snow and ice thinking, "man I wish I had a front-wheel drive car." I've never pined for all-wheel drive either. It all comes down to how you drive, and if you drive like a dumbass, you'll pay the price no matter what your in. I can control my car with relative ease in shitty conditions, if the back end starts stepping out, I can manage the throttle and turn out of it. I know when not to use the brakes so that I don't go careening into a ditch. Nothing is hard about driving in the winter, you just have to pay attention to what your doing.
