Maybe my Google-Fu is rusty but I have had trouble finding any numbers that will allow me to bring the Ford GT down to my imaginary level of unworthiness. Thankfully, Road and Track — aka Car and Driver for people that hear the word “broker” and think you mean the career rather than the state of survival — has instrumented testing this issue!

  • Base price of $453,750.
  • 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds.
  • 1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds @ 130 mph.
  • Curb weight of 3,250 lbs
  • Power to weight ratio of 5 lb/hp (with an aim for 2.2 lb/hp).
  • Cargo capacity of 0.4 cubic ft!!!!

I still say Ford would be fine if they just did two years of production and only built 500 cars. Then it would be like the LFA where the specialty of the car eventually surpasses any “performance value” arguments. Ferrari and Porsche understand that having people angry they didn’t get a car keeps the things valuable. Ford gave in and is now placing the car and owners at serious risk.

Ford, you may want to consider allowing owners to sell these cars and make some serious cash and build up the market so that you can do this again in the future.
