I’ve qualified on pole and won a race on each day of the limited-time demo so far! Some of this may have to do with the fact that it’s a free demo with lots of yahoos who don’t know how to drive properly.
First win was in a Group-B spec GT86 (AWD with plenty of horsepower) on the short East Course of Suzuka Circuit. This car is a HOOT to drive on tarmac. Soft offroad suspension means loosey goosey handling but with plenty of power going through the AWD drivetrain to dance the car around the track. I spun it in an attempt to snag the glory of having the fastest lap. Luckily I had enough of a lead to still win!
Second win was in a 100+ mph shifter kart on a fun little fictional course that really only required braking for a single hairpin on. Qualified on pole, won first place, and got fastest lap on this one. The Mexican driver on the first lap managed to ride my draft really well through the first corner but he tried to pass on the wrong side, left the tarmac, and spun it. Easy win after that.
I took this win in a Miata spec race at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Pole position allowed me to avoid the chaos of the first corner (even though cold tires still made it a little hairy for me) and run away with the lead, eventually catching up to a Brazilian in last place after 5 laps. He did not appreciate getting lapped.
I’ve been having a ton of fun with the game’s photo modes, too. Taking shots in both race replays and the game’s dedicated photo mode, Scapes, is a bunch of fun for someone like me who loves cars and photography. Here are the best shots I’ve taken so far.
Feel free to add me on PSN (MarquetteLa)! I’ll be playing the full game a bunch when it comes out on Tuesday.
