New front brake pads and steering rack bushings ordered for the Jag. Gotta get the safety items out of the way before I can start having fun! Hopefully the hubs simply need the bearing preload adjusted but I may just end up rebuilding them.

Not sure what I’m going to do about the steering rack. The end-seals are leaking an alarming amount of fluid and the sealing surfaces look too marred up for replacing the seals to do any good. I wonder how difficult it would be to pilot a 4000lb vehicle with no power steering? 🤔

Oh, also. After rebuilding the carb I appear to now be getting city fuel economy in the double digits, possibly!

Fun fact: the “thick rugs on the floor” and “thermostatically-controlled heat and air conditioning” are two of the ‘s-type’s Achilles heels. The condensation pan drain holes of the HVAC leak and water drains onto the “thick rugs” which absorb it and hold it against the floor like a pillow over a suffocating murder victim until the floor rusts through. Fabulous. I swear I’ll fix it eventually.
