On Tuesday night the Long Beach City Council approved to extend the contract for the Grand Prix for 3 more years with options for 2 additional years according to this article on NBC Sports. The extension was approved 8-0 by the city council and probably means the proposal to bring back Formula One to Long Beach is dead atleast for the near future. Personally I am glad my hometown of Long Beach decided to continue with IndyCar as Formula One would probably have not only made the event to expensive to attend for most people but would also eventually dry up the revenue stream that keeps this race going. I feel the IndyCar race along with all the great support races that were held this year are the perfect package for this historic event.
