“I got the plate! I got the plate!” Now let me chase him down and endanger myself and the rest of the public on the road...

Whenever you call into to report a driver you think is doing something illegal the CHP dispatcher should end the call with something like, “Please keep your distance and take all precautions for your safety.” A CHP dispatcher who knows how to do their job will never, ever tell you to follow someone you are reporting as possible drunk, under the influence, or driving in any way that is unsafe.

If you think about it, that makes perfect sense. If you have a good license plate that is all they need. There is absolutely no reason for you to endanger yourself or others on the road.

I don’t know what this guy thought he was going to accomplish. He says he did it because the driver appeared intoxicated, “...and my hurt or kill someone.”

My question to the biker is as follows:

How the FUCK are you going to stop a big ass car from hurting or killing anyone while you’re on a bike and trying to catch up to him?

The answer is there is NOTHING you can.

Some people just don’t think things through.

For anyone reading this and sees something like this, or someone driving dangerously on the road near you: stay away! If you can get a good license plate without potentially endangering yourself then fine. But if you need to get closer, or do something unsafe, DON’T! It’s not worth it. You are better off getting safely home to your family or loved ones.
