So over the last few weeks I've started working for a guy I know a few days a week. He is a car dealer who buys and sells cars, but only really between dealers and wholesale type stuff, very little end customer deals. It's definitely a neat business and I'm more doing it to learn how all of that works than to actually make any real money. My job typically includes running errands like picking up cars/people/parts, helping him go over prospective cars and seeing if they're worth buying, cleaning out cars we have bought, occasionally some mechanical stuff, as well as the book keeping and mundane stuff like posting ads and dealing with customers.
Since all of this started I have done a few things I NEVER thought I would have. On my first day working for him I bought a Prius, with over 200K miles. We actually deal a lot in hybrids and TDI's, he has a relationship with another dealer that works somewhere that those are a pretty hot commodity. It's very interesting seeing all of the different vehicles, what they go for, and how much the market fluctuates based on instantaneous demand. I'm not really sure where I'm going with all of this, but it was quite car related so I figured I'd share, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to do my best to answer them. For your time I offer that pile of tetanus above that was in the transporter parking at one of the auto auctions we go to!
