Just when you thought Acura was finally getting its balls back what with the NSX and the 2018 TLX and its A Spec package, they go and drop this bombshell. Trying to cash in on the small luxury crossover game that they would play with others such as the GLA, weird Infiniti QX30 and Buick Encore, someone thought it would be a good idea to bring over the CDX, which currently is only sold in China. What is the CDX you ask? If your answer is a Honda HR-V in nice clothes you are exactly right because that’s all it really is. Speaking to Wards Auto Acura group VP Jon Ikeda said “It’s a model that interests a lot of our people, so we have our R&D guys looking into the possibility.” Just..no. Don’t listen to your soccer mom and senior customers. And no don’t come with the “ sales of crossovers help fund the development of the fun stuff” argument because outside of the unattainable for most of us NSX, Acura has nothing fun (the TLX A Spec remains to be seen). This would just be another entry into an every crowded crossover market.
