The ole 323 GTX was doin pretty good at Summer Sno-Drift until it wasn’t. Sums it up pretty good actually.
I must admit that I hadn’t been to Sno*Drift in five years. It was a lot of commitment in college, and the weather always proved to be a bit chilly. However, after the humid bug-fest that was Magnum Opus 2016, I wasn’t terribly excited to try out Rally America’s summer version of the ‘Drift. Would it be hot and muggy?…
A quick announcement from the Sno*Drift Board of Directors yesterday:
Northern Michigan, first weekend of August! I’m planning on taking the F-100 and volunteering. This will be a single day rally in the Rally America Central Region Championship. Will there be an Oppo presence?

The last time I posted the lil red GTX had just fizzled out after getting clobbered on the rough stages of the 2015 Lake Superior Performance Rally. We had felt pretty good about the new turbo and the set up in general, but then at the very end of stage 12, the car turned off and that was that. We coasted through the…
We went out to TRF (Thompson Racing Fabrication - the guys behind the caging of the Brakimghini) to do some tall driver/co-driver modeling for seat placement and head clearance for their real wheel drive- rally rental BRZ.
Here they are, folks. I only filmed a few cars, but they’re good ones!
I marshalled at TeePee Tower 4 & 8 and Arvon Silver 11 & 12. Watching rally cars is really hard work, but I managed to snap a few action shots too*. Video will come in a later post.
I haven’t seen Driving Sports TV posting their Launch Control series to Oppo lately. In honor of my plans to attend LSPR this weekend, have the latest episode. Watch it to the end and revel in the awesomeness that is SRT USA swapping the transmission and driveshafts on Higgins #75 Subaru during a 10 minute service. I…
Just look at that driving! And that imagery! And that camaraderie!
Season 3 of the groundbreaking rally series returns to Driving Sports TV on Wednesday, May 20th. Watch it on the official Driving Sports Roku Channel, our Mobile App or commercial-free at http://www.drivingsports.com
I've been meaning to edit these pics and get them up here since... well last June. I've decided that nice editing is probably never going to happen though, so here is an unedited dump of some of the pictures I liked best. What a day!
tear down build up paint it rally it get dirtay. Chaos television.
Time for a new episode of Launch Control! This episode takes the Subaru Rally Team USA to the Detroit Lakes region of Minnesota, where Travis Pastrana attempts to out-do 2014 Champion David Higgins. Meanwhile, the Rallycross team faces the Florida heat of Daytona. Can they pull off a podium against all odds? Watch the…
Summer is in full swing in the forests of New England, and this weekend the border country between New Hampshire and Maine is filled with rally cars. David Higgins and Craig Drew of Subaru Rally Team USA are on a mission. A fourth consecutive Rally-America Championship title is within their grasp. They will have to…
Bucky Lasek and David Higgins check out STI's new 24 hours of Nürburgring race car during a test session at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Then, it's off to Portland for the Oregon Trail Rally.
Travis Pastrana returns to the Subaru Rally Team USA with a new co-driver, Chrissie Beavis. Together with teammates David Higgins and Craig Drew, they face off against rivals Ken Block and Antoine L'Estage at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Missouri.
The Oregon Trail Rally kicks off next week at Portland International Raceway. Here's a little clip with pure, unfiltered, WRC engine noise courtesy of Antoine L'Estage from testing last year to get you in the mood.
