Turns out it’s nice. Photodump ahead:

The beach at Coronado.

The hotel (DoubleTree) ended up cancelling my reservation without my knowledge. The only other place that wasn’t booked was this place called Ocean Park Inn on Pacific Beach. This view was about 30 steps out my door.

View from the back of the Convention Center. I was there for the Esri User Conference (along with about 16,000 other people).

I went exploring for a bit and found a place called Mt. Soledad. There’s a giant veterans memorial up there with sweeping 360 degree views of the coast and canyons.

On Wednesday night, I drove about 3.5 hours to Joshua Tree National Park. I spent about 45 minutes there and drove all the way back after sunset. Most of my time was spent helping some dude change his tire.

I was following an old Suzuki Sx7 into the park when his left front exploded and flung debris everywhere. It tore the fender off, but everything underneath checked out OK and he was able to make it home.

The flight home, via Las Vegas. Windward and leeward demonstrated beautifully.

Ramblin Rover bait. Sadly not too many pictures of cars. Spotted a ton of gems including a 918, 2nd gen NSX, 356, and many others, but I was driving when I encountered most of those.
