I wrote that I am getting a bit bored one-off hyper/supercars under this post and got some responses along the lines of "what???"

But, really I am. Egoista, Koeniggggseggg thing, Chinese supercarthing. To me they're all about posing rather than driving. I understand Aventador even though if I had $billions I'd buy the Porsche 918 or McLaren P1 rather than a lairy Lambo.

Take one hyper car - add gold and everyone drools. Noooooooooooo. Gold = weight and should only ever exist as an extreme heat shield (see McLaren F1 for details). I've no interest in posing.

I want a car to drive, not to show off in. Well, OK showing off to a certain extent is good. I did a few hundred miles in the Maserati GranTurismo and loved the noise and shape and so did everyone who saw it. But, to me that's mutual appreciation of a car rather than wanting people to look at me.

The ultimate car for me has masses of power, not much weight, handles like it's on rails and sounds fantastic. I can buy a Merc estate for practicality but for fun give me a McLaren, Porsche, Jag etc.

Am I wrong?
