Nintendo c. 1996: Super Mario 64 is on the forefront of 3D platformer games. The technology hadn’t quite caught up so they had to use one of the most powerful processors ever created when designing the Nintendo 64, and they even needed a memory boost for some other games. No one else has attempted such a game to the extent that Nintendo has with this game. 21 years later, it’s still rock-solid.
