2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA Reviewed

I had the chance to drive canyon roads and turn a few hot laps in the Subaru WRX STI Type RA last week. I also got to hang out with Mark Higgins again, which is always fun. The big question is if a $50,000 Subaru STI makes any sense.

Here’s the truth: For a buyer that seriously wants to track their car on the weekends, and is good enough of a driver to take advantage of the improvements in this model, it’s the car to get.

However, for the average driver, the Type RA is overkill. Most STI buyers should just buy a WRX instead and invest the difference in track school. The wing is sweet on the Type RA though.
