2019-10-13 Drive to Chaffey's Lock

Finally! The first “fun roads” drive I have ever taken here took place yesterday. Without any local knowledge or books like my treasured Destination Highways BC, I basically trawled Google Maps and picked out a loop based on my experience that seemed promising.

For the first trip, I decided upon Opinicon and Jones Falls Roads, mostly in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, with the main stop at Chaffey’s Lock (#37 in the Rideau Canal system).

To start with, it is always a “good sign” when you see this sign right at the beginning:

I spotted this “tunnel” of fall colours, and had to pull in for a few pictures:

Finally, after I got back, I saw this scene of contrast in our parking lot of what GM Performance stood for at various times: a front-wheel-drive 4AT Pontiac vs. a Cadillac with an S/Ced SBC and Tremec.
