Engineer Destin Sandlin runs a video channel called Smarter Every Day. This video of his (found on Kottke.org) shows just what can happen when you challenge your brain. When he tries to ride a bicycle that’s been altered to steer backwards... chaos ensues. Eight months later, he’s taught himself to ride the “backwards bike” (a task his kid learns in a couple of weeks); but then how do you ride a regular bike?

I’m not sure he’s correct in calling this a “cognitive bias” — to me the act of riding a bike is more a set of actions and skills that become unconscious and integrated with systems that are beyond our cognitive control, and the addition of the reverse steering requires our brain to reprogram a highly internalized SET of skills, not just the steering — but it’s pretty interesting.
