I had thought this was a Daimler SP250, a rare sight even when new:
But it’s not. It’s a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine. However, there’s a Daimler there too, behind it in fact. Advanced readers will be able to identify everything else in shot.
Here we go.
The SP250 was originally to be called the Dart and was the last product from Daimler (no, not that one, the other one) before it was bought by Jaguar. It had a fibreglass body to reduce tooling costs and a 2.5 V8, a thing not commonly seen and which had a brief outing in Jags subsequently. Just 1500 or so were made and Jaguar dropped it as they already had the E Type which could be made cheaper. This one’s in excellent condition and sports a new fabric roof.
