Are Car Shows still relevant to the general public anymore?

I have been becoming increasingly disenchanted with auto show coverage for the last few years, and it is getting a bit worse.

Yes, there is eye-candy one-offs that get 'oohs' and 'ahhhs' from the press and the assembled gallery.

But, seriously, how many Multi-Million dollar retail cars, and cars that will never see the light of day, does the industry need?

Aside from cutting the roof off of a GT-86, is there a single affordable car at Geneva?

Probably not, considering that in Europe, and the US now too, most median income people have lost so much buying power, that they cannot afford an average-price new mainstream car.
