Attempted Hijacking of Flight from Ukraine to Turkey: Sochi the Target

The Telegraph reports that a Pegasus Airlines flight from Kharkov, Ukraine to Istanbul, Turkey, received a threat from a passenger claiming to have a bomb and demanding the flight travel to Sochi, Russia, site of the just-opened 2014 Winter Olympics. The passenger appeared to be carrying a detonator and attempted to enter the cockpit. The flight crew broadcasted a hijacking signal, leading to the scrambling of Turkish F-16s and the flight landed safety in Istanbul. As of the latest report, Turkish authorities are searching the aircraft and the passengers for anything suspicious.
