So the wife’s Honda Fit, 2007, first model year in the US, bought new in 2006, recently developed a clunk in the front end. All the signs from my internet research pointed to the sway bar end link, and upon inspection that was indeed the problem. $35 and a day later (next day shipping from “Big Auto Parts Chain” It is all fixed.
(Too lazy to actually take a picture of the car, random internet download, but same model and color)
This is the first non-maintenance part (i.e. not brakes, fluids, tires) I have replaced on the car in 13 years and 100,000 miles. I am not sure whether I should celebrate the reliability of the car, or start worrying now that the seal is broken and things need to be fixed. As usual the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
