Yesterday afternoon I looked out back to see a gigantic tree laying across our fence. I went out and assessed the damage. 5 fence rails broken, tree completely uprooted, lotta diseased tree in my yard. Some might see this and react like my neighbor did (the tree stands/stood on his property). He called a tree surgeon who said he would be out Monday, then he came over to let us know that he knew and had made arrangements to have it taken care of.
When he came over, my wife answered the door and explained that I had been looking for a reason to get a new chainsaw and had already left to get it. My old chainsaw I “borrowed” from my parents. It’s a small, shitty, “Homelite” branded thing that only gets fuel when you hold it at a certain angle...real safe for a chainsaw...
Given the times, I online ordered an Echo CS 400 chainshaw, chain oil, and 5 fence rails from the local home depot. I have an Echo backpack blower, and weed whacker, they have both been absolute gems so I’m sticking with em.
As I got out of the car I donned my mask and gloves. Picked up my stuff, and disinfected it before I brought it in...If you told me a month ago that I would be doing all of that extra stuff just for a trip to the Depot, I would have been like, “Ok, crackhead”
Anyway, I have never had the pleasure of using a decent chainsaw before. I am an excitable person, and my neighbors know it so families on both sides were out to see me in action. In addition I love new toys/tools. As I open the box:
Filled the chain oil , filled the gas tank , primed, choke, and it fired right up. Do you even know if a chainsaw works if you don’t rev it up like a psycho first?
Anyway, In just a few hours this tree is gone! I will put up pics later but man is there anything like cutting something as big as a tree with relative ease?
