I don’t know how I hadn’t realized that before now.
I was moving some cars today and that turned into a shakedown of all of my cars save the Volvo. You see... the Saab was blocking the Alfa, but the Saab was blocked by the Jag. I wanted to put the Saab in the Alfa’s spot, the Alfa in the Jag’s spot, and the Jag in the Saab’s spot. While I actually could have done all of this in the space available, it seemed like more fun to take the Alfa and the Saab out for a spin.
The Saab was... still the Saab. Still was a weird problem and also doesn’t seem to want to rev about 4000 RPM. I’m warming up the parts cannon on that one.
The Alfa, is making two odd noises. One is either the water pump, or the alternator belt. The either is... a mystery. I checked it out with a stethoscope (OMG FIRST TIME USING ONE HOW COOL) and didn’t find anything of note.
So I took it for a drive.
And it was wonderful.
The night returns some of that anonymity that you lose with a convertible.
The sun isn’t there to hound you at every turn.
Most of the pan handlers have gone back to... wherever they go... so they don’t bother you either.
I see many, many more night drives in my future.
...assuming the alternator holds out...
