Part 1: Remove Ancillarys is complete. Besides the radio and some other small bits the dash is ready to come out.
Labelled all the wiring so I know where they go back to (if I even use this harness or the one that came with my ‘77 that’s all hacked up, I might just go full custom someday) and saved all the hardware with their respective components so I know what goes where. ‘79 was the year they started converting from SAE to Metric, so there are some random 10mm (of course) bolts thrown in on things like the headlight switch, and some lower dash panels.
I was hoping the stuff behind the dash bezel would be in better shape than the rest of the car, but the moisture from just sitting in a field got to them too. The plastic bits are OK, but I’ll have to see if I can clean up things like the headlight switch, wiper switch, and HVAC controls. Things my ‘77 did NOT come with.
I was hoping the lighter would be in better shape, as I had an interesting diesire the other day to turn it into an Engine Start button. Could be pretty rad. We’ll see.
I also found a 6.0L LY6 and 2WD 6L90 combo nearby, attached to a low mile truck. I hope it goes pretty cheap (though I doubt it), I might have TWO vehicles to part-out then though...
I really need to get the body work done on the ‘77. Soon.
