I know that you love EcoBoost engines, Ford. I love EcoBoost. We all do. But can we have a damn Controls Pack for it already?! I know that you’ve got them! They keep appearing on custom cars at SEMA, and you’ve even shown them on TV.
We’ve had the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in production now for over 5 years. FIVE YEARS! It’s been so damn long that with the new 2016 Ford GT & 2017 F150 Raptor, the EcoBoost V6 is now entering into it’s Second Generation of production!
So far we know that in various displacements, you’ve cranked out over 5 MILLION EcoBoost engines, and if the trends are to be believed, at this rate you’re close to the 1 million mark on the 3.5L V6. If you haven’t passed it already. And how many of these engines are now sitting in junkyards, unused, and just waiting for people like me to come along and start dropping them into project cars? How much of a boost, both image wise and financially, to the Ford Marque, not to mention parts suppliers, would that be if we all just go crazy EcoBoosting all of the things!
What about all of those Hot Rod Ford Roadsters out there that because of the front suspension, had to make do with being defiled by Chevrolet engines? The EcoBoost 3.5L V6 can not only spank them with the power output, but it can also fit in just fine thanks to both a compact design, as well as reversible oil pans. More importantly we can put the Blue Oval BACK under the hoods of some of the most iconic Fords ever made. Don’t you want that? You didn’t take a bail out from the Government to keep new Fords on the road, so don’t make us take a bailout from GM by having to keep old Fords on the road with their engines.
Look, I’m not mad. I’m just disappointed. This makes me sad because of what could be. Older cars resurrected, cheaper power output, and better emissions. And here we are just waiting for you to help us make that happen.
This is me waiting on my EcoBoost 3.5 Controls Pack to run the engine in my custom car. Patiently waiting for you, Ford...
