I just learned that there was a brief period of rampant and widespread outbursts against signs of wealth during the 50s. The most notable example dealing with high end cars parked in many downtown areas. People in the apartments above the shops would rain down their worthless household ornaments and decore on these nice cars parked on the streets outside these shops, especially as the owners returned to their vehicles with arms full of luxury goods.
