I’m doing some research into small/mid trucks for a family member. He sort of wants a Tacoma TRD pro or ZR2 Colorado. He was asking about the 2.8 Duramax since GM is so keen to hide their details about this mystical engine.

It turns out it’s the VM R428.... Things I now know:

Now I’m not bagging on this engine, or the use of old tech, even if it is updated and improved, this is hard to swallow. I still like the idea of a 2.8 Diesel ZR2 Colorado, and I am not even a fan of GM.

I think I’d go for a Tacoma, or recommend the gas Colorado.
