DOTS

The local MG club ran a hillclimb on the road outside my house on Sunday. Yes, that is a real type 35A Bugatti. Lots of other interesting, if less exotic, toys too.

Sleeper of the day: the heavily turbo’d Corolla wagon.

Best sound of the day: the ‘Busa powered Starlet.

And then there’s the Bugatti. According to the blurb from the Leadfoot Festival (where I’ve also seen this car) it was imported into NZ in the 40s and has been grassroots raced ever since. It got an engine swap to a Jag XK with a C Type head in the 50s, presumably after they blew the original. It’s currently campaigned by the original importer’s son.
