I have mended something! Turns out the problem with the dryer not heating was a dead overtemp sensor. So, $25 for a multimeter and $45 in parts and it's running again. Beats the hell out of paying somebody $100 just to walk in the door. It just goes to show that with a little knowledge, a basic set of tools, and a little courage, you can fix most anything.
