This is a Ford Edge, made by them in Canada and now offered to European buyers as an upmarket and bigger alternative to the Kuga (Escape).

I’ve been looking up statistics, as you do. Just ten Edges were sold by Ford in Ireland in Q1 2018.

So, how did it do in Q1 2019? Sold in the dozens? Hundreds? Er, no. None. Nil Nothing. Not a one.

Before you ask, it’s because it’s much too expensive and is a five seater in a segment of the market where seven seats are expected.

Ford’s hope was to sell 200 in 2017, its first full year of sale. They managed just 35 and it’s been downhill ever since.

Goodbye, Edge. It’s been nice never knowing you.
