I don’t think there is anything else in the world that comes close to the Festival of Speed for variety, and its pretty true that its petrolhead Nirvana.
I’ve managed to wangle my way in to the event for all 4 days, so expect to see a selection more photos coming from me over the weekend. For now, heres my highlights from today, with the Paddock being quite quiet it was worth making the most of it.
GT86 and special liveries. These were part of the moving motorshow so the public was allowed to drive them. Sadly I didnt realise this until they were all booked...
Well know accessory to the CSL batmobile, tatty beach towel.
Group B Delta S4. I like this.
Mclaren M8F (next to a trophy truck, because Goodwood)
I swear I see this car at every event I shoot #firstworldproblems.
Martini Livery and a 917. Yep, i’m ok with this.
And the car that killed Can Am, 917-30. This and the M8F are going to give me serious difficulties as they come up the hill. Can Am = heaven.
Flying 787b. Really love this sculpture, very cool.
Toyota 200gt. Wow this is clean.
Honda’s whole stand is set up like this. Love the idea, even down to the warnings on the end of the box about age limits.
205 T16. Not sure if this is running, but I hope so. its big brother the 405T16 is.
Mad Max on the perfectly manicured cricket pitch.
2 of the 3 787s running. I think the 5 is the LM24 winner, but I stand to be corrected
First time I’ve seen a Singer 911. WOW!!!
Early Astons, DBR1 and DBR2
Only at Goodwood would there be Ferrari F12s littered around, near the Champagne bars.
Group B Quattro. One for the hillclimb, and I believe 3 or 4 getting muddy/dusty on the rally stage.
Rothmans 956s (& 962s) do make a very pretty group.
935 Turbo, from IMSA competition I believe.
Martini and Gulf livery next to each other. Yep, that works.
Ferraris of Gilles Villeneuve and Alan Prost
The 2015 Le Mans Audi.
Mad Mikes 4 rotor RX7 is here, and theres a whole class for drifting this year. So I guess the hill will be disappearing in tyre smoke.
A pair of McRae’s beasts.
Bonus CSL shots.
And a 2 of the 3 historic Mclaren Hondas on display (and hopefully running).
Hillclimb starts tomorrow, so thats the plan for Friday, and the Rally stage is on my to do list for Saturday.
If anyone has any requests of specific cars just shot and I’ll try scout them out.
