In case you need some explanation, this is a quantum leap over current variable valve timing systems. A camshaft is a compromise between a bunch of different performance parameters like low end torque, high end horsepower, fuel efficiency, etc. Honda’s VTEC is equivalent to having two different cam profiles to choose from. Both are still a compromise. This is like having an infinite number of cam profiles. It could run as the most mild, fuel sipping, econo-engine when you putter down the road, or transform into a fire-breathing beast when you mash the throttle.
