Ride a Harley to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and you’ll be just another one of 400,000 slightly overweight bankers in their 60's looking forward to ogling girls in buttless chaps. But, if you want to really make an entrance, how about a V8, as in V8 motorcycle?
Who knows, it could be the last entrance you ever make. Find this 2002 Kannon V8 Chopper for sale in Pasadena, TX for $12,995 (‘cuz 13K was just too much) via craigslist. Tip from Vance T.
Kannon Motorcycles was a motorcycle builder located in Ketchum, Oklahoma dedicated to constructing V8 powered muscle bikes. They were founded in 1993 by motocross racer and inventor Steve Hough in 1993 and folded in 2003 (reportedly Hough is now building rat rods). Hough’s innovation was a patented automatic transmission that “tamed the beast” and made the bike manageable at low speeds. This Kannon, as the low budget Von Dutch lettering indicates is powered by a 350 small block Chevy good for 355 hp. Kannon did build some bikes with 502 big blocks as well.
This bike has a Grim Reaper setup. The Grim Reaper is a western manifestation of a Pyschopomp, a guide of souls. The Psychopomp is responsible for escorting the newly deceased from the earth to the afterlife. Their role is not to judge the deceased, but merely to provide safe passage. So, I’m not going to judge if the death theme is posturing or a premonition of your own death by riding this thing.
No word on the mpg rating for this bike, but I would imagine, given the huge tank, it ain’t great. The gauge setup reminds me of Mad Max’s Interceptor setup. Although this bike probably isn’t booby trapped.
I had to include an extra bonus shot of the exhaust pipe. If it was mine I’d rig it up with one of those old JC Whitney exhaust pipe flame throwers.
