Happy New Year! Congratulations to everyone for surviving the annual onslaught of aggressive holiday commercialization, awkward family interactions, and some weird holiday beverage made out of eggs and whatever “nog” is. January is a time for a new beginnings, lots of snow, and hanging out indoors with some adorable floofy animals.
A new year, a new Snout Selector. For those of you that don’t know me yet, Hi! I’m Chuckles. You’ve probably seen a few pictures around here of my dog Olive and my cats Calvin and Cassie. As part of my goal to spend more of 2018 focusing on positive things, I have answered the call to become a Snout Selector. The vetting process was very arduous. Seriously, I was stuck waiting at the vet’s office for hours before realizing that I’m a human and I should go to the human doctor if I need medical assistance. But enough of my terrible attempts at humor. On to the floofs!
In case you’re new (in which case, welcome!): Favorites are chosen by one of the Snout Selectors (KrabbyPaddy, mrsfinch, facw, Xyl0c41n3 or Chuckles), entirely on our own whimsy. WHIMSY. However, in the interest of solidarity, we try to select one dog picture and one cat picture (minimum!) each week. Other pets will also, of course, be considered. We love all your rats, bunnies, ferrets and other furry, feathery & finny pals. WE WILL NEVER DISCRIMINATE AGAINST CUTE. As always, we’re happy to dismiss any pictures if you decide you want them taken down at some point.
If you don’t have a pet of your own to feature this week, I highly recommend featuring and linking to any cuties who are available for adoption and looking for a home on any shelter or rescue site. I know I’m not the only one lurking on Petfinder!
In that sharing spirit, if you don’t have a pet but want to participate, drop off your best Internet find of an animal gif or meme or tweet in the comments. The more animal lovers, the merrier:) Speaking of sharing, feel free to share these posts anywhere in the Kinja-verse, because it has been scientifically documented that looking at pictures of cute animals reduces stress.
Here are the favorite fur faces that I’ve selected from last week’s post. It was so hard to choose! (If your fur face wasn’t selected, I can assure you that I looked at every single picture and wanted to pick them all. Snout selecting is harder than I thought!)
Agrajag’s Gus decided to show off his lovely sweater (and just a hint of blep).
Not to be outdone, Tom.Cruise.Is.Weird’s QuiQue showed us that cats can do two things at once (climb trees and stick out their tongues).
bitofivory’s adorable dog is on the mend after getting some staples, and what better way to mend than to lay down and listen to some good tunes?
Notorious GIGI, Vagina Screecher shared several pictures of a lovely symmetrical cat, but here’s my favorite of the bunch. In my house, this is known as the “Pensive Loaf” pose:
tasteofthebitchpudding showed us last week that a lot of work goes into getting the perfect holiday picture, but this one looks like it was worth all of the effort!
AestheticsInMotion took a break from sharing a great story of wintertime convertible shenanigans to spend some time with a customer’s adorable cat.
TheOperaGhost was fortunate to get to spend some quality time with Lexa over the holidays, and captured this beautiful shot:
I’m amazed at the patience shown by iroqdemic’s cat after he was pulled into a game of Connect 4.
kcunning shared a picture of two adorable Christmas doggies with us. Why can’t human clothing have light up collars?
Don’t even think about getting in between bookart’s Dashiell and his stocking. He earned it, because he’s a good boy.
Last but not least, meet HeyDorthVader’s new guinea pig, Harry. He’s an avid reader, and I can’t think of anything better to do after the holidays are over than to curl up with a good book.
And that’s it for this week’s edition of Fur Face Friday! Congrats to all of the winners, and thanks to everyone who submitted a picture, even if it wasn’t selected. I loved getting to look through all of them.
Now let’s see what 2018 brings. Show us your January Fur Faces!
