I started reminiscing about old racing games with a friend which made me want to go back and play Gran Turismo 3. And damn what a soundtrack! 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger, Turbo Lover by Judas Priest, Stone Free by Jimi Hendrix, Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, and She Sells Sanctuary is just perfect when blasting around Seattle. And I think Def Beat by Junkie XL was in everything, video game or not, around the year 2000.

Speaking of Seattle, where the hell is that course now? I also miss Smokey Mountain, Tahiti Circuit and Swiss Alps. I also miss the super polished animated menus, the orange and green HUD with that awesome flashing tach in the corner, and a racing AI that seemed to care (try arcade mode on hard or professional). Everything in the newest Gran Turismo games feel so sterile, like the series felt like it had to grow up and be taken more seriously. Dammit, Gran Turismo 3 knew how to have fun. It was colorful, vibrant and exciting. And the best part, the 787B had no goofy front wheel covers.
