We were doing some
spring COVID-19 cleaning and I came across the original window sticker for my second MkIV GTI. For those who don’t know, window stickers are also called Monroney stickers as he was the Senator who sponsored the bill outlining the mandates for window stickers.
I did not purchase this car new, I bought it from an older gentleman who had meticulously maintained the car for 8 years. He had every single maintenance record neatly organized in a binder, all from the dealership he bought the car from. That unfortunately did not prevent this thing from being a money pit. In fact it even cost me money as when the coil packs went bad 4 months after I bought it, I found out the previous owner had already replaced the coils once, so the recall on them had already been used.
$21,365 seems steep for a 1.8T GTI in 2005, but I’m sure he didn’t pay that.
