In Burnaby, BC, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the victim's family are pleading for the suspect in a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 72-year old Edward Simpkins to come forward. Last Sunday evening, Simpkins was cycling in Burnaby when he was struck by a dark-coloured car, killing him instantly.
Surveillance video shows what is described as a late-model 2-door coupe, black or dark blue in colour. Mere seconds after the accident, a second car approached the scene, and left before emergency services arrived on-scene. Burnaby RCMP believe this driver to be a "critically important witness".
Police aren't necessarily attempting to identify either vehicle. Rather, they are hoping that someone known to either driver will recognize the cars, and that the suspect and witness will come forward. Regardless, can you help identify these two cars?
UPDATE: The suspect driver has come forward to the RCMP, and they have taken custody of the suspect vehicle. At this time, she has not been charged. Police are still pleading for the witness to contact them.
