I'm surprised that I was out of the loop about this update for so long. The VE-based Caprice gets the VF Commodore Evoke's interior (similar to the upcoming SS, including Mylink) with a column shifter, the requisite equipment panel and wider front seats with updated pelvic airbags and seat belts.

Some other improvements include a surveillance mode, electric power steering, switchblade key fob with remote start, trunk release buttons on both front doors, and handling improvements via larger front struts and front stabilizer bar. There's no more Detective trim, though.

For reference, here are the 2011 MY's Police- and Detective-spec interiors.

I don't know about the standard equipment panel now that the Detective trim's no longer offered, but the overall car seems closer to an affordable SS when used examples turn up.
