I know you've been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting in anticipation for me to post the results of the high mileage challenge I created last week. I split the results in two. Today is current cars, and tomorrow is previous cars. So, let's get to it!
First off...here's the random statistics:
Average age: 16 years
Average mileage: 192,000
(Thanks to whitetrashsteve, Jawzx2, the devilinside, and Nibby! for skewing those results with their brand new & low-mileage cars ;).)
Oldest car: Jawzx2 with a 1982 Volvo 242 race car
High-milege Newb: N/A POWAAAHH looks to have the highest mileage new car with 193k on a 2008 Subaru Impreza.
Top Manufacturers: Toyota (10), Ford (8), & Dodge (7). Honda, Chevy, and Volvo tied with 5.
Top Models: Chevy Silverado/1500 & Honda Accord with 3 a piece.
So, no real shockers... a Japanese manufacturer has the highest number of cars, and a Japanese mid-size sedan ties with an iron-block push-rod engine truck for highest models. However, the big 3 are all represented in top manufacturers! Woo-hoo! Who says American cars are unreliable?
Actually, with the vast range of vehicles represented, it appears the only real conclusion we can draw is that ANY car can be a high-mileage car if properly maintained...even Range Rovers and BMWs!
Only 7 Opponauts are cruising around in cars with cars over 300k, but 31 have cars over 200k. In total 50% of us are beyond the 200k mark...not too shabby.
Okay, without further adieu...our winner is....(drumroll, please)....
Harrycarry250 with 400,000 miles on a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD!
Okay, so the picture is not Harrycarry250's. I just pulled it off the internet, but who doesn't want the winner of the high-mileage challenge to be a brown diesel wagon!
Here's the full results:
Thanks for playing!
