You can pop your head out the top, open air, and take a look around.

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for years. My dad was a top turret gunner in a B17 during WWII. His flight crew was the first with 30 missions over Europe. He passed away 19 years ago. I’ve always wanted the opportunity to fly in a B17, and was finally able to do so today as an early father’s day gift.

This was the flight before mine that went out

I’m thrilled to have had the chance to get up in one. It’s loud, it’s drafty, and I can’t even begin to imagine what the men that flew in these went through during the war. If you’re able to, I highly recommend getting in the air in one. It’s one thing to walk through it on the ground. It’s a completely different experience up in the air. And the landing was smoother than any commercial craft I’ve ever been in!
