Let’s just check the rear brakes and see if we can find the source of that noise. What could go wrong?

Fuckity-fuck-fuck. That’s the second time a stud has broken on that wheel. The nut was on so tight; this is what happens when the garage monkey powers the nuts on with the gun.

On the up side, although I didn’t get the wheel off this side, the other side did work. I’m of the opinion that my parking brake (which was recently verified and adjusted) was stuck on. With the brake applied and one wheel in the air, there is zero evidence that the brake works. So add that to the list of problems.

I keep trying to do work myself, because garages cost money, and shit like this keeps happening. It’s starting to get on my nerves. I don’t have a garage or a lot of tools, so most jobs are beyond my reach, but when even the simple things go wrong, you wonder if you’re on the right path.

And here I was a few months ago telling a friend I'd like to quit my job and be a mechanic. Oooooo boy.
