I have done podcasts on how to car shop at a dealer and how to sell a used car. And then I realized - I had never done one on how to BUY a used car. So, here it is. Everything I have gathered from speaking to thousands of consumers over the last 23 years.
And, I've even bought a few myself. It's going to get your hands dirty (and probably your knees) but if you follow my advice you will dramatically decrease the odds of getting ripped off when you go shopping for a used car next time. This time, I focus on a purchase from an individual. And, in case you missed it a few weeks ago, here is the podcast of the transaction from the other side. How to SELL a used car.
I know you are wondering: What happens if you listen to both podcasts? I hear that if you did that with one in the right ear and one in the left - at the same time - you'd get sucked into a black hole and spit out onto a CarMax parking lot. Which, if you are not Doug DeMuro, might hurt.
And the pic at the top? That was something I saw by the side of the road while I was in the process of looking for a truck to play around with. Jeeps are cool and all but far too small for my needs.
