While mowing last Friday I went into a corner of the lawn I usually do not venture into and found a metal spike embedded in the ground with the mower blade. The little OHV 132cc Briggs ceased movement instantly and now it has no compression and makes a fun grinding noise when I spin it.
Needing to mow my lawn my friend told me he has a mower engine for me. turns out it was a whole mower, this self-propelled Craftsman that had sat outside long enough the deck, handle, axles, etc. were all rusted to pieces but the engine was (theoretically) good.
So in the coming days I’ll be swapping the 190cc monster out of the rusty pile of garbage and sticking it on my little base-model walmart Craftsman to replace the 132cc. Should help with chopping through the absurdly dense clover patches in my lawn, especially since I’m now... roughly a week overdue for a mow.
