Hello. Welcome to a few days of odd houred, more frequent, and lower quality posts from yours truly. My wife is traveling until Thursday evening. I took these coming four days off for some quality time with my kiddo. However, she sleeps a lot and I sleep very little.
I never added an aux interface to the M3 now the one I like is hard to come by. So I can only play cd’s out of the factory head unit. That head unit skips like crazy with any burned cds, unless you burn them suuuuuuuuper slow (like 4x or less).
The selection today is the best album from “The Beastie Boys”. I have never been a die hard fan, but then I have never heard this album before. I heard the song “Eggman” in a show my wife was watching last week. I caught the “Superfly” beat and stopped (to vibe) and to hear if it was the song or a sample. Shortly thereafter I heard MC A’s unmistakable wail. I said “This Beastie?” to my wife. She looked at me and sighed like she always does when I ask her if XYZ musical artist is XYZ musical artist...
A quick Shazam later and I queued the whole album to play during my run on Friday. It’s tite, if you don’t already know.
When I dusted off the M3 today I took inventory of the 3 albums in the cd sleeve in the door pocket. Jay-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt”, Bob Marley’s “Bustin’ out of Trenchtown”, and a mix of tracks by the west coast hip-hop duo known as “The People Under The Stairs”. Ok I thought, but we need some new guys in here. Paul’s Boutique is what I like to refer to as a “Headphones” album in that it’s best enjoyed via headphones from start to finish. However I have found that I tend to like those same albums accompanied by a roofless straight six. So I figured this was a welcome addition.
On to the technical. I have some blank cds from god knows when and a headless windows 10 machine with a writeable drive in the basement. I’m the Director of IT for a small company, so naturally I googled “how to burn an audio cd on windows 10.” Found some free software (BurnAware) and made it through install with out agreeing to any of the adware.
I got the album, and spun one off at 4x. Tested it out and sleeved it for later. It was like time traveling. I’m thinking of doing another tomorrow. I’ve been super into Dave Brubeck lately, maybe one of his.
I’ve already added on to my daughter’s workbench over the weekend, but I will save that post for during her first nap tomorrow.
