I figured out what the Z Proto's face reminds me of

I have this thing where I have freakish recall of faces. Sometimes I see a person and have a spidey sense like, “I HAVE SEEN THIS FACE BEFORE.” For example, this came into play when I interviewed for my current job. One of my now-coworkers who was on my video interview looked so familiar, but it took a couple weeks into starting the job for me to realize he goes to my gym. I HAD SEEN HIS FACE BEFORE. 😱

Apparently my superpower extends to faces on things other than humans, because this picture of the Z Proto triggered my familiar face reflex. I was picturing some kind of cartoon, a character with a round head and a square-edged mouth like a nutcracker. I tried googling for images of things like “smiling yellow robot” and whatnot. Finally it dawned on me where I had seen this face before. It’s how The Oatmeal draws faces, like in his comic about sriracha.
