This is the second time I’ve had to do this. DON’T work in automotive repair.
I hate to say it, but automotive repair is a terrible field. Nine out of ten employers break the law and take advantage of their employees. And even when you fight back, like I have once already, you get fucked. Sure, employers aren’t supposed to retaliate, but we all know they do. And even if you file a claim, there is no way to prove it. The whole thing sucks.
At least with my current claim, I don’t have to worry about anyone talking to the employer, and this claim is massive because he’s an idiot. All he had to do was pay me double the minimum wage, but he didn’t, now he owes me tens of thousands of dollars.
Oh, and I wonder if Mr. “I don’t pay overtime” will change his tune after he has to pay me $3,600 in penalties on a few hundred dollars in unpaid overtime.
So wish me luck. I am a lot less nervous about this hearing, and the more I work on employment law the more I realize that’s what I want to do. It would be great to help out those like myself after I pas the bar.
