So I get to spend copious amounts of unplanned money this weekend and try not to kill myself or my buddy coming to help. My retaining wall to the left of my driveway, seen below, is all rocks. Well this winter the rocks decided they did not want to stay put and have massively shifted to the point that I have wedged a massive amount of bricks under one bolder (few hundred pounds) so that it wont fall out onto my car.

So I secured rental of one of these, for $500 for the weekend plus $50 delivery pickup charge and $20 to take a 14 day temporary hydraulics license. Honestly I was a little scared on how easy it was to get this. One certificate from an online course which was 9 questions which included; “True or false the bucket is a safe place to ride on the tractor”, Someone put 911 on speed dial.

The plan is to remove all the boulders and throw them in a different part of the property as back fill and to create a retaining wall out of 6x6 PT boards that I will spike into the ground with Rebar, possibly some 6x6 if I rent a post hole digger. I am sure I will have plenty of pictures from the adventure, I think I might set up my go-pro to do a time lapse of the project for the hell of it.

If anyone has any tips on what to do please feel free to let me know. This is going to be interesting and fun. Also if anyone gets bored in MA your welcome to come be put to work. I provide beer after.
