Pulled some sub duty this morning, and had the kids building bridges with newspapers (hence the ad I stumbled upon). Brought back memories of smelling ink while slinging paper early in the morning. Here’s a great video documenting the work of pressmen at the NYT.
Lotta similarities between the print world and the auto world. They mention having to search for parts on Ebay because the manufacturers are out of business. I had to the the same thing many a time for the envelope converters we had. They were around fifty years old. The last press we ran was a newer Komori, and the electronic were the only thing to ever break on it. They were also the only things we couldn’t fix ourselves.
