Did a drive past Saturday with a couple of friends from the local BMW club... well, husband and wife team so 2 people but alas just 1 car... so, I spent that day chasing an Interlagos Blue BMW E86 Z4 M Coupe.

We did a route that centered around Duffey Lake Road, and here are the pics and vids. Since I have enough pictures of my car, I mostly concentrated on covering the BMW.

First, I met up with them in Port Moody:

Then, we slogged through the Lower Mainland section of the Trans-Canada to arrive at Hope, where we topped our tanks and I set up the GoPro.

From Hope, we drove up the Fraser Canyons, which you can see the full video here:

Again, we ran into the Alexandra Bridge construction, but then I was able to get close enough for some close-up footage of the Z4MC on the move:

We drove onwards through Lytton:

...which, so far, is the same as what I did when I “broke in” my new exhaust:

From Lytton, though, we made for BC-12, which is known for its fallen rocks:

...and an infamous “single-file” stretch due to the unstable slope:

Despite all that, though, and probably BECAUSE of all that, the route is sparsely travelled... and they recently repaved it to boot. So lots of fun were had on it, and it was definitely the highlight of the trip. We even had a big-horned sheep cross the road right in front of us... after we slowed down to give it the room, of course... DODGE-ing the RAM, so to speak :-D

Here it is in its entirety:

...and here it was in 1966:

I will have to see if I can sync up my footage to the old one; will be interesting to run them side-by-side!

Onto Lillooet:

...where my car was telling me that it was 34C outside, but we still stopped for them to top up on drinks... and for me to finally get a few more pictures:

It is a short hop to Seton Lake:

...where the BMW Club historically have stopped for their group pictures, so we also took a few:

Onwards to the namesake of this drive, Duffey Lake:

I knew that there is a small parking lot right on the lake side, and I have stopped there once myself... but when the BMW Club comes through we never stop there due to parking logistics for such a big group. So, for my companions, despite passing by so many times, they were never able to do this... until now:

Speaking of parking, here is the crazy scene a bit further down this road at Joffre Lakes:

From Duffey, we headed back to civilisation at Pemberton:

...during which we also met an actual Australian vehicle, which I wrote up about here:

Onto Whistler:

...and onto Squamish:

...where I traded their Z4MC for a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS:

Alas, it was not to be, so I got the BMW back for our final fuel stop in Squamish:
