Insurance and such (or why I'm glad I live in Saskatchewan)

Just got some additional coverage for my insurance. As an explainer, in Saskatchewan, your car, when it’s registered, is insured, but only the car, not the driver. So, for me to drive in another province, I had to get an additional plan. $200 deductible, $2 million liability, $1000 for a rental when I can’t use my car, and I’m covered on any car in North America. How much extra?

$216 a year. So for this, base insurance, and vehicle registration, I pay about $1600 a year, or about half what I’d be paying if I still lived in Ontario. Although I may complain about the cold, I’m glad I live here.
