But you know it when you see it.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the UT Tower shooting, when Charles Whitman climbed the iconic UT Tower and shot 49 people, killing 16, after murdering his wife and mother earlier that day. Today is also the day that the University implements its Campus Carry policy, the result of SB 11 signed into law by the Texas governor on June 1, 2016. The law allows the carrying of concealed weapons into any UT building (concealed carry by licensed gun owners has been legal on campus for 20 years, but not inside buildings). Open carry is still prohibited.

This is not meant to be an anti-gun post. Whether or not you agree with the Framers’ intent with the wording of the 2nd Amendment, the law, as it is interpreted today, is the law. However, I just can’t believe, in my heart of hearts, that more guns is the answer.
