This guy had his car catch on fire (Taurus SHO), both the dealer and the insurance company investigated and couldn't find a definitive cause for the fire. Ford's stance is that they are not responsible for any sort of fire. The insurance company's conclusion after investigating is to total the car.

My thoughts here are... It is likely a freak accident, the guy that's getting the insurance check is coming out like 5-6 grand above what he owes on the car, should he really be mad (which he is)? Sometimes these things just happen, I'm not so sure it is so wrong of Ford to just let insurance handle this one... Sure the guy can be mad, but I feel he is blowing it out of proportion...

He goes as far as to say he'll never buy another Ford, he'll even recommend everyone he knows never buy a Ford. Do you think he is justified in doing so? I don't. There are waaaayy too many Ford's that are NOT catching on fire for him to have any grounds to make this claim, other than anger. Sometimes life sucks and your car catches on fire. I think his anger is understandable, but to boycott the entire brand over it? I'm not so sure...

So again... What do you guys think you would say/do in this situation?

I personally think I wouldn't boycott the entire Ford brand, especially since I got a good deal insurance-wise...
